Pure Elite: Welcome, Bex! Can you tell us what categories you compete in?
Bex Roshan: I compete in Bikini Fitness and Bikini.
Pure Elite: What motivates you to compete in bodybuilding?
Bex Roshan: Having a big goal like competing gives me the drive and determination to become the best and strongest version of myself. I’ve found that this same drive applies to other areas of my life. On days when motivation is low, I remind myself of the magic of show day and why I chose to do this.
Pure Elite: Can you share a significant moment from your fitness journey that stands out to you?
Bex Roshan: The most significant moment was how fitness saved me from 27 years of disordered eating. It was literally a vehicle to recovery, something I never thought possible.
Pure Elite: Who or what inspires you to keep pushing towards your goals?
Bex Roshan: So many athletes have inspired me, but the one that comes to mind most is Fitfarn, also known as Laura. She’s real and open about her struggles with disordered eating. Watching her journey to the stage, and hearing her say, “If I can do it, you can do it,” made me believe I really could. Now, I push forward to prove to myself that you can achieve anything you set your mind to, and to continue inspiring others.
Pure Elite: What advice would you give to someone aspiring to compete in bodybuilding or with Pure Elite?
Bex Roshan: Just make the decision and commit to the goal—don’t procrastinate. We only have one life, and it’s short, so if you want to do something, give it a go. With the right mindset, you can achieve anything!
Pure Elite: What has been the biggest challenge you've faced in your fitness journey, and how did you overcome it?
Bex Roshan: As someone who has suffered from disordered eating, the biggest challenge has been learning to intentionally gain weight and still accept and appreciate my body being bigger. Overcoming this is hard but possible. Support and advice from my coaches helped me focus on getting stronger rather than just heavier. Practicing gratitude for what my body can do rather than just how it looks really helps.
Pure Elite: Is this your first Pure Elite Pro Show?
Bex Roshan: Yes, it is.
Pure Elite: Why did you choose to compete with Pure Elite?
Bex Roshan: Of all the federations I looked at, Pure Elite had the best feel—more glamour, individuality, and a really supportive, compassionate community.
Pure Elite: What has been the highlight of your experience competing with Pure Elite so far?
Bex Roshan: Definitely winning two categories in my first show and getting my Pro card. Show day was magical, and I felt like a princess, which has always been a lifelong dream!
Pure Elite: How would you describe the community and support you’ve experienced with Pure Elite?
Bex Roshan: The Pure Elite community is amazing and incredibly supportive. Stewart is responsive to queries and receptive to feedback. The federation is inclusive, with many categories creating opportunities for people with different physiques and ages. The support from other competitors was incredible, both in the lead-up to the show and on the day itself.
Pure Elite: What are you most looking forward to at this year’s World Championships?
Bex Roshan: I’m looking forward to meeting some of the more experienced Pro athletes and sharing show day with two of my teammates this year. I think it’s going to be a big show with great energy and atmosphere.
Pure Elite: What would you say to someone considering competing at Pure Elite?
Bex Roshan: Stop considering and just do it—get signed up today! You won’t regret it. Pure Elite is a supportive and compassionate federation, and everything is really well organised.
Pure Elite: Is there any Pure Elite Pro you would like to compete against?
Bex Roshan: Too many to name them all, so I’ll pick three:
- Fitfarn for how much she inspired me to compete.
- Dr. Lauren because she’s a fantastic advocate for women over 40 and an absolute body goal.
- Anca because I adore her, though I’ll never be wellness, I would love to share show day with her.
Pure Elite: Is there anything else you’d like to share with us, or a specific quote you would like us to use?
Bex Roshan: Competing with Pure Elite helped me connect with my South Asian heritage and be proud of the differences I had spent years being embarrassed about. I hope to inspire other South Asian women to challenge social norms within the fitness industry. Be proud of your authentic self—different is beautiful.
